Planetary Health Movie Afternoon at Sustainability Days 2026

07.06.2026

Programm Nachhaltigkeitstage 2026

The Chair of Planetary and Public Health would like to warmly invite you to join our event on Planetary Health topics during Sustainability Week (June 8 - 10).

The event is created to initiate a discussion based on a series of student-created videos that explore important Planetary Health topics, including fast fashion, planetary health diets, active travel, and lived experiences of climate change. Through these short films and the subsequent discussion, we aim to create an engaging space for reflection and dialogue on how our everyday choices and societal systems affect both human and planetary well-being.

Important Information

Date: Wednesday, June 10th
Time: 12:45–14:15
Location: BaySpo H35

The event will feature the screening of five short student-produced videos, followed by an open discussion with invited experts from the University of Bayreuth:

  • Prof. Dr. med. Carmen Jochem - Postdoctoral researcher at the Chair of Planetary and Public Health, Faculty of Law, Business and Economics. Her research focuses on planetary health literacy and education, as well as environmentally sensitive health promotion and disease prevention through healthy and sustainable lifestyles.
  • Prof. Dr. Susanne Tittlbach - Chair of Social and Health Sciences in Sport and Vice President for Digitalisation, Innovation and Sustainability. Her research focuses on public health and physical activity, transdisciplinary approaches in health promotion, and participatory intervention studies aimed at improving health and well-being.
  • Fabian Sommer - Research Assistant and PhD candidate in Sports Ecology. His research examines the interactions between sport and the environment, including the environmental impacts of sporting activities and how environmental change affects athletes and sports. He is also the Study Coordinator of the Additional Study Program for Sustainability.

Whether you are interested in sustainability, health, climate change, or social transformation, we warmly welcome you to join the conversation. We look forward to an inspiring exchange of ideas and perspectives on creating healthier futures for both people and the planet.
